Women in Metalcasting Presents Inaugural Award at Metalcasting Congress

A new honor from Women in Metalcasting recognizes outstanding contributions to the group’s mission.

The inaugural Women in Metalcasting Award for Excellence was presented April 4 at the 2018 Metalcasting Congress in Fort Worth, Texas, to American Foundry Society President Jean Bye. Bye, president and CEO of Dotson Iron Castings (Mankato, Minnesota), is the first woman to serve as AFS president.

The WIM Award for Excellence will be given annually to a woman or man who has been an exceptional leader, champion, mentor and/or role model for women in the metalcasting industry. The statue presented to the winner depicts a woman pouring metal.

WIM’s mission is to provide a platform for women in the metalcasting industry to develop avenues for networking, mentorship and the sharing of ideas, experiences, and best practices that benefit members both professionally and personally.

The American Foundry Society is a dynamic technical and advocacy organization that serves and represents the $33 billion metalcasting industry. AFS is the only association serving the entire industry, including all metals and processes, with a three-part focus on advocacy, education, and innovation. AFS also publishes Modern Casting and Metal Casting Design & Purchasing magazines and presents Metalcasting Congress and CastExpo, the largest metalcasting trade events in North America.
