Every person has hidden biases built into how they solve problems and decide on solutions. Unchecked, these biases undermine our best efforts to intentionally lead our staff, our organizations, and ourselves. They inhibit our progress up the career ladder, create disengagement on our teams, and negatively impact our relationships. In fact, problem-solving biases have been the demise of many large organizations. This fun and engaging presentation will help participants uncover the hidden forces that derail their thinking and replace them with intentional strategies for problem solving success.

Mental health disorders are among the most burdensome health concerns in the United States. Nearly 1 in 5 U.S. adults aged 18 or older (44.7 million people) reported a mental illness in 2016. Given that 63% of Americans are part of the U.S. labor force, the workplace can be a key location for activities designed to improve well-being among adults. During this session we will discuss attitudes and stigma surrounding mental health and identify strategies to open the lines of communication, identify those at risk, and put in place supports to help people reduce and manage stress. By addressing mental health issues in the workplace, employers can reduce health care costs for their businesses and employees.
Mitch Quick, Michael Best Law Firm, Attorney

A healthy corporate culture is a significant contributing factor to a positive bottom line. Embedded within the corporate culture are competing values that tug at leadership’s attention. For example: Should we embrace change (innovation) or focus on stability? Should we focus on the customer or focus on the employee? Should we centralize or decentralize our business units? Should we plan for the short-term or the long-term? And many more competing values create tension or polarities within the culture. This session will equip leaders with a model for leveraging organization’s polarities.
