SCHAUMBURG, IL - We’re excited to announce that Mary Ann Cahoon has joined the American Foundry Society as our new Technical Publications Editor, reporting to the Brian Began.
In this role, Mary Ann will support the editorial and technical integrity of AFS publications, including the International Journal of Metalcasting, AFS Transactions, and various technical books and manuscripts. She will work closely with authors, committees, and staff to ensure our content continues to meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Mary Ann is completing her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at Clemson University, where her research has focused on nanoparticle-doped optical fibers. She brings with her an impressive background in scientific writing, editing, and research, as well as hands-on technical expertise from experiences at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Clemson’s advanced optics lab.
Beyond her technical capabilities, Mary Ann also has experience as a peer writing consultant, where she helped others develop and polish their technical and academic writing. She has a passion for clear, accurate communication and is excited to contribute to the advancement of metalcasting knowledge through AFS publications.
