ANAHEIM, CA - California is the number two state in the nation for number of foundries, with a total economic impact of nearly $7 billion and 31,680 jobs. With that in mind, AFS participated today in the annual California Metals Coalition annual meeting.
AFS exhibited at the annual meeting just outside of Anaheim and visited with corporate member companies and prospective member companies at their facilities and at the meeting. The Society’s CEO Doug Kurkul and Vice President Ben Yates participated in the event which drew more than 200 attendees.
The California Metals Coalition, led by James Simonelli, is a vital partner in advocating for pro-metalcasting public policies at both the state and federal levels and hosts the AFS California Chapter. California’s regulatory environment has been cited by a number of companies that have left the state, making continued pro-manufacturing advocacy all the more important. The California Metals Coalition has achieved a number of significant public policy achievements in recent years and is working to pursue further improvements.
The next major event on the AFS advocacy calendar is the Government Affairs Fly-In, June 10-11 in Washington, DC. Foundries and suppliers are encouraged to participate in this event. Learn more here.
