AFS Applauds House, Urges Senate to Adopt House-Passed Debt Ceiling Bill

The American Foundry Society is calling on the U.S. Senate to pass the House’s debt ceiling bill which averts a default on the national debt while incorporating vital provisions for the manufacturing economy.

Approved by the U.S. House last night, the debt agreement contains many measures long supported by AFS and its members, including permitting reform and infrastructure investments such as the Mountain Valley Pipeline.

“AFS applauds House members for their bipartisan support of the debt agreement, which not only prevents a default, but also takes steps toward modernizing our nation’s outdated permitting process and investing in reliable energy infrastructure, two important measures for our nation’s manufacturers,” said AFS CEO Doug Kurkul. “We urge the Senate to prioritize the health of the U.S. economy by swiftly passing the House’s debt ceiling bill into law.”

Senate debate and voting is expected to start soon.
