New Guide to 3D Sand Printing Published by AFS

Metalcasters who want to learn more about the state-of-the-art process of 3D sand printing have a new resource from the American Foundry Society.

The 3D Printed Precision Sand Casting Process is a helpful pocket guide that explains this toolingless technology in clear detail. Released to the public this month, the 120-page book first debuted at the AFS Sand Casting & Additive Manufacturing Conference in August 2020.

Compiled by the experts of the AFS 3D Printed Sand Technical Committee, the guide features detailed process descriptions and photographs. Topics covered include design considerations, binders and substrate materials, surface finishes, post processing, handling, current industry best practices, and quality control.

The guide is ideal for conventional metalcasters, casting engineers, design engineers, and casting buyers who need to understand this cutting-edge process, which enables metalcasters to create highly complex castings of virtually any size and weight.

The 3D Printed Precision Sand Casting Process is $20 for AFS Corporate Members, $30 for Individual Members, and $40 for non-members. To purchase your copy, click here.
