AFS Institute partners with NoRedesign to provide training for casting design engineers

Design engineers can improve their castings and cut costs with a program from NoRedesign.com offered in partnership with the American Foundry Society Institute.

NoRedesign and the AFS Institute will provide 32 instructional videos from leading metalcasting expert Mike Gwyn, who teaches engineers to eliminate expensive redesigns and re-tooling that can cut into margins.

Totaling more than 50 hours of instruction, the training developed by NoRedesign teaches original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and their design engineers to:

  • Avoid cost overruns
  • Avoid product launch delays
  • Avoid failed prototypes and failed first article approvals
  • Improve structural casting strain life
  • Learn “castability geometry” – the mold cavity shape that a chosen alloy will “like”

Gwyn has more than 40 years of experience in metalcasting design and production, manufacturing engineering, and enterprise management. He is the author of more than 50 book chapters, articles, and papers, and he has conducted more than 75 design classes and seminars for the AFS Institute. The AFS Institute, the educational arm of the American Foundry Society, offers instructor-led, in-plant and e-Learning courses to metalcasters across all processes and materials.
