Ted Schorn and AFS: A comprehensive approach to visual inspection

Ted Schorn has a story to tell about visual inspection, and he’s sharing it three ways: in a course sponsored by AFS, at the AFS Aluminum Casting Conference, and in a new book.

Schorn, an expert in his field, published Improving the Effectiveness of Visual Inspection with AFS earlier this year. The book, which has garnered high praise from industry leaders, teaches readers to minimize or eliminate quality problems in manufactured products.

Now, Schorn has taken the concepts from Improving the Effectiveness of Visual Inspection and turned them into a comprehensive AFS-sponsored course of the same name. Schorn leads this hands-on class, teaching students how to boost the reliability of visual inspection. The course is Feb. 26-27 at AFS, 1695 N. Penny Lane, Schaumburg, IL 60173. Aluminum metalcasters will have a chance to learn from Schorn even sooner, when he presents at the AFS Aluminum Casting Conference, Nov. 5-7 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He’ll be using his firsthand experience to speak to aluminum foundry personnel about visual inspection techniques. To register for the conference, please click here.
