Linamar, GF Automotive Choose North Carolina for New Operation

Linamar Corp., Guelph, Ontario, and GF Automotive, a division of Georg Fischer AG, Schaffhausen, Switzerland, announced they will place jointly owned GF Linamar LLC’s new aluminum diecasting facility in Mills River, North Carolina.

GF Linamar LLC will provide large light metal high-pressure die castings for powertrain, driveline and structural components for the North American market.

The business will invest more than $200 million in the facility in two phases over the next seven years, adding 350 manufacturing jobs over the next five years.

Production is expected to begin in the middle of 2017.

“This will be our fourth plant in North Carolina, an area where we have thrived thanks to a fantastic workforce and a great business environment,” said Linda Hasenfratz, CEO, Linamar. “It is rapidly becoming an important hub for us to serve our customers in the southern U.S, and North America overall.”

“The location is ideal for us, and we look forward to a prosperous future for our joint venture in the U.S.,” said Yves Serra, CEO, GF.
