    Gigante is retiring effective June 30 and will be replaced by current COO and president Mike Nikolai, who will effectively take over as CEO on July 1. Gigante has served as CEO since 2007 and began at the company as a metallurgist in 1981.

    Grede, Southfield, Michigan, announced that its facility in New Castle, Indiana, has been given Ford Motor Company’s Q1 Award, which recognizes outstanding quality and performance. According to a news release, the Ford Q1 award means the facility has achieved excellence in “product quality, systems capabilities, materials management, logistics and delivery.”

    A group of business associations, including the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, recently filed a petition for review to challenge the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rule that significantly lowered the primary ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) standard from 75 ppb to 70 ppb.

    01.04.16: OSHA Activates Injury Reporting Form on Website

    On December 24, 2015, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced its long delayed online injury reporting form is now available to employers to satisfy the agency's recordkeeping rule (29 C.F.R. 1904.39) requiring employers to provide notification of fatalities within eight hours and hospitalizations, amputations or eye losses within 24 hours.
