AFS estimated that there are approximately 530 foundries in the U.S. with 50 or less employees. These small businesses have unique needs that create challenges very different than those of the larger businesses that have greater resources. In smaller foundries it is common that individual employees fill multiple roles. The owner operator serves a chief business officer but may also serve as chief technical or engineering officer. This workshop will focus specifically on the needs of the small foundry business sector. The workshop will combine the technical and business management issues.
This workshop will be part of a broader AFS initiative to engage the small foundry sector in AFS activities and services and develop a stronger connection with the small foundries businesses that are currently underserved within AFS membership.
