Overview

Join fellow metalcasters from around the world at the Young Professionals Program this October in Chicago and Milwaukee. This gathering promotes career development and networking among young metalcasting professionals from the U.S., Japan and Germany. It’s a week of foundry tours, manufacturing presentations, industry discussions and more, all designed to enhance the competitiveness of the metalcasting industry and promote global exchange and networking.

Travel Information

The event is all inclusive.  Lodging, transportation to various locations, and breakfast, lunch and dinner will be covered by the $1,200 dollar registration fee.  AFS will handle all scheduling and processing of said services.  Note: You are responsible for your airfare and transportation to and from the airport on arrival and departure days, as well as any additional hotel costs that fall outside of the dates October 13 - October 17.

Speaker: Bill Adams from PNC Financials Service Group

Bill Adams will provide an overview of today’s global economic environment and forecast projected conditions and exchange rates for the North America, Asia, the Eurozone, and Latin America. 


Adams is vice president and senior international economist for The PNC Financial Services Group. He is co-author of In Line Behind a Billion People: How Scarcity Will Define China’s Ascent in the Next Decade, and is a designer of “The Conference Board Leading Economic Index for China®”, a widely followed, market-moving economic Indicator.

Topgolf Dinner Event

On October 14th, after the first full day of programming, attendees will retreat to Topgolf, a new kind of golf experience that combines networking and friendly competition with entertainment.

Tour of Neenah Foundry

On October 15th, attendees will tour Neenah Foundry.  Bringing over 140 years of experience, Neenah Enterprises, Inc. Blue Harbor Resort Cookout and Campfire

The evening of October 15th will be spent lakeside at the Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  We will be grilling out while attendees can network with a beverage and relax by the campfire.

Tour of Kohler Foundry

On October 16th, attendees will tour Kohler Foundry.  The "Industry in Action" factory tour is for anyone who's ever wondered how a KOHLER® bathtub or faucet was made. The tour tells the history behind the nation’s largest plumbing-ware manufacturer and takes visitors through numerous buildings – pottery, brass and foundry – that create everything from vitreous china bathroom sinks to KOHLER Enameled Cast Iron baths. Includes information about Kohler's innovative Arts/Industry Program. 

Tour of Briggs and Stratton

On October 16th, attendees will tour Briggs and Stratton.  Briggs and Stratton Corporation (NYSE: BGG), headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is focused on providing power to get work done and make people's lives better. On October 16th, after a full day of tours, attendees will retreat to Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery for dinner and craft beers.  

Tour of MxD

On October 17th, attendees will tour MxD.  MxD equips U.S. factories with the tools and expertise they need to begin building every part better than the last.  In partnership with the Department of Defense, MxD equips U.S. factories with the digital tools and expertise they need to begin building every part better than the last.  As a result, our more than 300 partners increase their productivity and win more business. MxD has invested approximately $90 million in more than 60 applied research and development projects in areas including design; product development; systems engineering; future factories; agile, resilient supply chains; and cybersecurity.  Attendees will tour the nearly 100,000-square-foot innovation center near downtown Chicago.  Its factory floor features some of the most advanced manufacturing equipment in the world, which partners can use for experimentation and training on everything from augmented reality to advanced simulation techniques. 

Cocktails and Dinner Event at The Signature Room

On the evening of October 17th, attendees will retreat to The Signature Room, an upscale spot high atop 875 North Michigan Avenue. Attendees will enjoy an elevated fine dining experience with cocktails, wine and some of the best views in Chicago.

AFS member and non-member: $1,200

Cancellations & Substitutions

Cancellations & Substitutions Substitutions will be accepted anytime. However, cancellations of confirmed registrants with full refund of fees will not be accepted unless received at least two weeks prior to the conference date. In the unlikely event the conference is canceled for any reason, AFS liability is limited to the return of the registration fee.
