Journalist Mike Allen to offer insights on the Trump administration, Congress and elections at AFS Government Affairs Fly-In
January 31, 2018
Mike Allen, one of Washington’s most influential and well-connected journalists, will be the keynote speaker May 15 at the 2018 American Foundry Society Government Affairs Fly-In.
Allen is the co-founder and executive editor of Axios, a website delivering daily news and insights on politics, business, media, and tech. He is plugged into all of the major issues and players on the national political scene. With humor and insight, Allen shares exclusive, poignant and up-to-the-minute analysis on what’s going on at the White House and on Capitol Hill.
In addition to starting Axios, Allen was a co-founder at Politico, the digital media company that upended and revolutionized political and policy journalism. At Politico, he served as the chief White House correspondent, where he not only reported on but also drove the day’s conversations in and around the Beltway. Prior to joining Politico for its 2007 launch, he worked at numerous other publications, including Time magazine and the New York Times. Prior to that, Allen spent six years at the Washington Post, where he covered President Bush's first term, Capitol Hill, campaign finance, and the Bush, Gore and Bradley campaigns of 2000.
Time named Allen one of its top 140 Twitter feeds, calling him “the Virgil of the Beltway, leading the rest of us hapless Dantes through the inferno of America’s political universe.” He is the co-author of two e-books focusing on the 2012 presidential campaign – Politico Playbook 2012: The Right Fights Back and Inside the Circus: Romney, Santorum and the GOP Race.
