AFS Publishes New Aluminum Casting Handbook
October 19, 2017
The American Foundry Society (AFS) has announced that the third edition of “Aluminum Casting Technology” will be available for purchase in the fall of 2017.
Most recently published in 1993, “Aluminum Casting Technology” has become one of the key resources for aluminum metalcasting personnel throughout North America and the world. The aluminum shape casting industry has grown considerably since the prior edition with many expanded product applications.
Aluminum casting usage in the automotive, military, aerospace, electronics industries, and other commercial applications have grown as light-weighting and energy conservation have gained momentum, taking advantage of aluminum’s inherent benefits.
Respected metalcasting industry whiz David Neff coordinated the review and compilation of this update. Neff collaborated with more than 55 contributing authors who are all recognized experts in the field of aluminum metalcasting and supporting technology.
The new third edition builds on the previous volume, but with many upgrades and additions. Several core chapters have been extensively augmented with new material, and the most notable changes are in the creation of five new chapters on:
- Casting process simulation.
- Semi-solid mold processes.
- Metal matrix composites.
- Additive manufacturing & rapid prototyping.
This publication is available through AFS Customer Service at: firstname.lastname@example.org. For Corporate Members, the price is $175. For an AFS Individual Member, the price is $262, and non-members will pay $350.
