Seminar Addresses Environmental Waste Issues in Metalcasting
November 15, 2013
AFS held its two-day Advanced Foundry Waste Seminar this fall in Atlanta for metalcasters seeking in-depth information on permitting and reporting, testing, possible regulatory citations and environmental waste management.
The seminar started off with a regulatory overview before diving into key concepts in hazardous waste regulations as applied to metalcasting facilities, exploring waste generation, management/generator storage and generator treatment. The second day focused on offsite treatment, disposal and storage facilities, identification and characterization of wastes, agency inspections, managing liabilities, beneficial reuse and where to find more information on regulations.
To further expand on agency inspections, AFS will be holding an EPA-OSHA Inspection Workshop at its headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill., March 26, 2014.
