ASK Process Simulation Optimizes Casting Processes

October 3, 2012

ASK Chemicals, Hilden, Germany, which offers a diverse product portfolio and expertise in casting process simulation, now also provides its expertise as a comprehensive service package for metalcasting facilities.

Simulation can optimize environmental and economic potential in various stages of the casting process.

Casting process simulations allow for the depiction and adjustment of dynamic processes, and offer efficient changes to them in planning stages and in live operations. Simulation is a service designed for all process-oriented metalcasting facilities. It delivers custom concepts that provide environmental and economic solutions precisely tuned to specific process parameters.

Using state-of-the-art computer technology, application engineering analyzes and simulates processes such as core shooting, core gassing and dehydration, along with mold filling and solidification.

“This allows us to develop a secure foundation for risk-free production decisions in the casting process,” said Andrè Gerhards, ASK Chemicals project manager, technical assistance and simulation.

Simulation allows for an exact description of the cast part’s quality before production begins. Virtual prototypes enable metalcasting facilities to reduce product development costs, shorten preparation times and enhance the overall product quality.
