    11.09.17: AFS translates popular e-Learning module into Spanish

    The first Spanish-language AFS e-Learning training module is now available, AFS and the Institute announced today. The first module, Prácticas Básicas de Fusión para Hierro, is available at the AFS Store right now. It explains the different melting and pouring processes of cast iron, inspection methods, and quality testing entirely in Spanish. It is available for immediate use and training of foundry personnel.

    11.03.17: D.C. Circuit Hears Arguments in Metalcasting Industry's Challenge to OSHA's Silica Rule – What’s Next for Foundries?

    AFS, in conjunction with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), petitioned for review OSHA’s respirable crystalline silica rule. That lawsuit was consolidated with other challenges to the rule in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. The case has been fully briefed and oral argument was held before a three-judge panel on September 26, 2017. The case is now awaiting a decision of the court which could be days or months away.

    09.08.17: Associations Urge Administration to Reopen the Silica Rule OSHA is Putting Jobs and Companies at Great Risk

    The American Foundry Society (AFS) and five other trade associations sent a letter to the Secretary of Labor strongly urging the re-opening of the rulemaking record on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) final rule on Occupational Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica.

    09.01.17: AFS Issues Final Call for Papers for the 122nd Metalcasting Congress

    AFS has issued a final call for papers for the 122nd Metalcasting Congress to be held April 3-5, 2018 in Fort Worth, Texas. AFS is seeking papers covering all issues relating to metalcasting, diecasting and foundry management and operations, including unique in-plant procedures, new technologies, equipment, products and other innovations that have contributed to enhanced metalcasting productivity and quality.
