Executive Committee 1-A
To organize, administer and implement the necessary committees with the technical engineering disciplines required in the advancement of the engineering sciences related to manufacturing and plant facilities, application, utilization and maintenance of equipment and processes, and energy management through research, education, and dissemination of technology.

Program & Papers Committee 1-B
Responsible for the preparation of the technical program for the Engineering Division for the annual meeting of the Society. Secures papers and speakers with the responsibility for the review and acceptance as prescribed by the rules and regulations of the committee.

Awards & Advisory Committee 1-C
Committee chairman administers the program on behalf of the Engineering Division. Submits nominees for awards to the Board of Awards as proposed by the special committee chairman and advises Executive Committees.

Plant Engineering Committee 1-D
Annually organizes and prepares a Casting Congress Presentation related to the foundry process- equipment, systems, technology, facilities, operations, maintenance, and other subjects of related interest. Evaluates nominated foundries and selects the “Best-in-Class” to receive the annual AFS Plant Engineering Award. The Award is intended to encourage the advancement and practical application of technical and management expertise, and professionalism within foundry engineering and maintenance. Assists AFS/CMI in the development of educational course material for plant engineering and maintenance related subjects.

Industrial Engineering Committee 1-E
To compile, evaluate and disseminate knowledge which will enable foundry and engineering management to design, optimize and integrate the overall company's business processes, including strategic planning, capital planning, human resources planning, technology acquisition and new products realization process. To provide a forum for industrial engineers to share their professional skills as change managers of our industry.

Process Design & Modeling Committee 1-F
The committee fosters the application of research in the solidification, reheating, and cooling of castings. Such research being accomplished by means of computer simulation.

Energy 1-G
Improve energy efficiency of the metalcasting industry to enhance foundry profitability and sustainability. Make energy conservation issues, options and available resources clear to the industry.

Quality Systems Committee 1-J
To promote the advancement of quality systems and statistics in the foundry industry by sponsoring information exchange. Quality systems include quality management, S.P.C., vendor evaluation, statistical methods, process control tools and employee involvement.

Research Advisory Committee 1-R
Prepare general research plan for the Engineering Division to be updated annually; develop project ideas submitted by the Engineering Division committees, assure that research proposals are submitted in the proper form, present projects approved by the Engineering Division Executive Committee to the AFS Research Board and monitor progress on approved research projects.
