Research Foundation Ensures the Future of Metalcasting |
AFS announces the establishment of the Metalcasting Research Foundation. AFS currently has the administrative capabilities through its Research Board, Technology Development Council and Technical Committee Structure to focus, direct and oversee research activities that address the metalcasting industry’s current and future needs. Currently, twelve AFS research projects are being supported through the allocation of a portion of AFS Corporate Member Dues and industry in-kind funding and four government/industry funded projects also are being worked on.
The goal of this foundation is to fund metalcasting research and technology development and to provide its members a competitive edge in the marketplace. The first solicitation for donations was sent to AFS Corporate Members in October.
“A portion of AFS’ mission is to ensure the future of the metalcasting industry through research and technology development,” said Jerry Call, AFS Executive Vice President.
Five honorary levels have been established for the foundation. They include one-time contributions of: copper ($500 or more), silver ($1,000 or more), gold ($5,000 or more), titanium ($25,000 or more) and platinum (more than $100,000). These honorary levels will be recognized at the AFS Metalcasting Congress, AFS Headquarters and on the AFS Research Foundation website.
