Keramida Wins Childress-Loebler Lifetime Achievement Award at 2009 EHS Conference |
The 21st Annual Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Conference was held Aug. 16-19 at the Indianapolis Marriott East Hotel, Indianapolis. Conference topics included an overview of metalcasting environmental requirements and tips on life as an environmental manager, the public perception of safety in the metalcasting industry, best practices in a silica facility and a safety success story from a leading metalcasting facility. The Childress-Loebler Lifetime Achievement, Outstanding New Member and Div. 10 Awards also were presented at this year’s conference.
The 2009 Childress-Loebler Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Vicky Keramida, president, Keramida Inc., Indianapolis, for her dedication, innovation and perseverence relating to environmental, health and safety issues and the metalcasting industry, as well as Div. 10 involvement.
The Outstanding New Member Award went to Adam Wylie, Murdoch, Goldenberg, Schneider, & Groh, Fort Wayne, Ind., for actively participating in committee activities and continually volunteering his time and talents to committee projects.
The Annual Service awards were presented to Sam Fay, division safety manager, McWane Inc., Oskalosoa, Iowa, Glenn Huneycutt, division training coordinator, Charlotte Pipe & Foundry Co., Charlotte, N.C., and Ray Ostrowski, independent consultant, Glenview, Ill. The awards are presented to those individuals who have exemplified dedication and service and helped build and improve environmental, safety and health conditions within the metalcasting industry.
