HR Solutions Package

Studies show that employee benefits, such as medical insurance, can comprise up to 40% of a worker's annual compensation. This includes costs to recruit, train and equip an employee (whether it be with a computer for office employees or tools for the shop), plus the direct and indirect costs of medical care, claims administration, retirement funding, vacation, disability plans, dental, day-care and any other specialized programs. With annual costs spiraling to unsustainable levels, today's brightest CEOs and managers are looking in new directions for cost-efficient solutions. These include:

Employee Benefits

  • major medical plans
  • dental plans
  • group life insurance
  • AD&D
  • vision
  • STD & LTD
  • cobra benefits
  • mini med plans
  • gap plans
  • payroll services
  • employer/employee website
  • wellness programs
  • claims advocacy
  • employee communication tools

Risk Management

  • workers' compensation
  • rigorous risk control assessments including employee safety training
  • OSHA compliance audits and property appraisal
  • consultation on disaster recovery planning and accident and workers' compensation fraud investigation

To assist Corporate Members in controlling these costs, the American Foundry Society (AFS), in association with Thilman Filippini, a Willis company, now offers HR Solutions, a program designed to use the cumulative strength of the U.S. metalcasting industry to offer competitive and cost-effective Employee Benefits and Risk Management Solutions.

Human Resource Assistance Team

While most organizations employ an HR person, it is sometimes impossible to have personnel on staff that are experts in all aspects of human resources.

The AFS Human Resources Assistance Team provides information and assistance to corporate member companies who need the help of HR professionals on topics related to our industry.

Labor Agreement Settlement Reports

To help metalcasting managers do a better job in the field of labor relations and contract negotiations, AFS maintains files on union agreements in our industry. Settlement agreements are surveyed and reported quarterly to corporate members. Quarterly reports will now be available in PDF format for downloading on the AFS website by entering the corporate contact ID number and last name. The fourth quarter report will be available in January.
