North American engineering students will soon have access to new software developed to help design lost foam patterns. A research project, sponsored by the AFS Lost Foam Casting Process & Equipment Committee (11-G), provided funding to CPFD Software LLC to develop SeeFOAM software, which provides engineers with visual and quantitative information for bead injector location, air flow, air pressures, bead flux and local bead density variations. As part of the funding, AFS successfully negotiated for the software to be made available for free to North American universities and at a limited-time discount for AFS corporate members.
