UFCO Reaches Safety Milestone |

AFS Corporate Member Union Foundry Co. (UFCO), Anniston, Ala., achieved a safety milestone Aug. 17, when the employees recorded 2 million man hours without a lost time accident. That milestone comes on the heels of the company surpassing a two year goal on May 15, 2006, of no lost time accidents. The plant's accident prevention program has been recognized by the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce, which awarded UFCO with the "Award in Safety Excellence" (2005), and the State of Alabama, Department of Industrial Relations, which honored it with the workplace safety "Award of Excellence" (2005) and "Award of Superior Achievement" (2006). This successful accident prevention trend has continued to show a significant reduction in worker's compensation costs.
