The 20th annual Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Conference was held Aug. 24-27 at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark, St. Louis. Conference topics included dust explosion hazards, global warming implications for metalcasters, the McWane turnaround story, EHS auditing and common findings, and the upcoming Occupational Safety and Health Administration agenda.
The Div. 10 Annual Service Awards also were presented at this year’s conference. The awards are presented to those who have exemplified dedication and service and helped build and improve environmental, safety and health conditions within the metalcasting industry. This year’s honors went to George Doremus, general superintendent, Morrison Brothers Co., Dubuque, Iowa, and George Hutcheson, industrial hygienist, John Deere Waterloo Works, Waterloo, Iowa.
