Metalcaster Reduces Mercury Emissions |

AFS corporate member Atlantic States Cast Iron Pipe Co., Phillipsburg, N.J., announced Wednesday that it has successfully tested its state-of-the-art emission control system, making it the first metalcasting facility in North America to apply control technology to substantially limit mercury emissions, according to a press release. The $9.3 million system surpasses emission standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and preemptively meets New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection mercury regulations ahead of the Jan. 3, 2010 compliance date.
