The American Foundry Society’s (AFS) 6th International Conference on Permanent Mold Casting of Aluminum and Magnesium, held at the Embassy Suites Dallas-Frisco, Frisco, Texas, Feb. 11-12, focused on industry advances, innovations and best practices in permanent mold casting. The three-day meeting included discussions on metal treatment, filtration, non-traditional alloys, extending mold life, mold temperature control, new methods for gating and risering, comparison of low-pressure and gravity pouring, computer modeling, effective equipment maintenance, magnesium alloys and new mold coating options. One hundred twenty-five participants attended the event.

The conference also featured a plant tour of Denison Industries. “Denison was pleased to be a part of the AFS conference on Permanent Mold Casting,” said Shawn Ingram, Denison Industries sales and service manager. “The conference included a lot of discussion on new practices and technologies in the permanent mold industry, and the plant tour at Denison Industries was an opportunity for the conference participants to see those practices and technologies in action.”
