Recycling, Emission Reduction Top Topics at 2007 EHS Conference |

Metalcasting safety engineers and management convened in Nashville, Tenn., Oct. 7-10 for the American Foundry Society (AFS) 19th Environmental, Health and Safety Conference. The annual conference covers the newest trends, legislation and technology affecting the environmental, health and safety standards of the metalcasting industry. Presentations this year touched on beneficial reuse of metalcasting sand, reducing hazardous air pollutants and emissions, and understanding new OSHA and EPA rules and guidelines. Environmental training and silica training workshops were held a day prior to the conference. A highlight of the three days was a tour of the General Motors Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green, Ky.
