The September MODERN CASTING magazine's Casting Trends section will include a forecast by Ken Kirgin, Stratecasts Inc., which projects a 10-year high for casting tonnage available for sale by non-captive metalcasters in 2008. Despite an expected rise of imports to 3.6 million tons, domestic shipments by U.S. jobbing facilities are forecast to increase to 14 million tons. The article also will include data on available casting tonnage forecasts by metal and end-use market. MODERN CASTING also will include a profile of new iron casting plant Technocast, Saltillo, Mexico, and a casting process modeling software wrap-up reviewing modeling software companies and their latest program offierings.
