AFS Seeks Participation for Policy Reform |
|
The American Foundry Society (AFS) is asking you to take time during the August House of Representatives recess to contact your Representatives, urging lawmakers to cosponsor the Currency Reform for Fair Trade Act (H.R. 2942). Introduced by Reps. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) and Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), H.R. 2942 contains a number of provisions that would protect American manufacturers from foreign currency misalignment. The single most important action the bill takes, however, is to define currency misalignment as an export subsidy. In addition, AFS is urging lawmakers to contact the House leadership and Chairmen of the House Ways and Means Committee in support of a strong trade bill this year. A sample letter is available at www.afsinc.org/content/view/75/141/. For additional information, contact Stephanie Salmon, AFS Washington Office, at
