AFS Sponsors Machining Productivity Study |
|
AFS is sponsoring a research project in conjunction with the University of Missouri-Rolla and Defense Logistics Agency. The purpose of the study is to investigate and develop methods of improving machining allowances in metalcasting facilities. The survey also will quantify the relative importance of several microstructural features and casting process variables on degrading machine productivity. The study includes questions about melting practice, mold/core practice, castings and casting machinability. A summary of the results and statistical analyses will be presented at the annual Metalcasting Congress, and identities of specific metalcasting facilities will be masked in the reporting. To take this survey, contact Jared Teague, University of Missouri-Rolla at
