Welcome to the Government Affairs area of the AFS website. The goal of this website is to disseminate critical information on federal legislative and regulatory actions that may affect the more than 1,800 metalcasting facilities (representing 200,000 plus workers) in the U.S.
With our team of advocacy professionals located blocks from the U.S. Capitol, AFS works directly with elected officials, congressional staff and government agencies to promote the interests of the metalcasting industry. For more information, contact the AFS Washington Office, at 202/842-4864 or

2012 Government Affairs Conference, May 2-4, 2012
As the elections quickly approach, many intriguing political battles are emerging, including the race for the White House, gubernatorial races and the congressional elections. Will there be a realignment of power in Washington? There is no better time to bring together government officials and metalcasting leaders than during a Presidential election year.
This year’s program will feature:
•An insightful update on the 2012 Elections and what it will mean for metalcasting
•An in-depth discussion of key legislative and regulatory issues facing the industry, including the wave of EPA regulations
•Lobby Day on the Hill to interact with members of Congress and congressional staff
•Half Day Program on critical enforcement matters from OSHA, NLRB and ICE
Our issues are too important to leave to others! Make your voice heard in Washington, D.C. Attend the 2012 AFS Government Affairs Conference and tell Congress why metalcasting is a critical engine of economic growth.
