Denison's Norch to Speak Before President, Congress
Chris Norch, president of AFS Corporate Member Denison Industries, will address President Bush, Republican Congressional Committee Members and the 2008 Presidential Candidates as part of the National Republican Congressional Committee March Dinner & Tax Summit held March 12-13 in Washington D.C. In his address, Norch will focus on the metalcasting industry’s concerns about the unfair trade and currency practices utilized by China and he will ask for congressional assistance in remedying this imbalance of trade and its detrimental effects on our industry.

U.S. Metalcasters to Gather in D.C., Lowest Cost Ever

Northwest Regional Conference Coming March 13-15
The 2008 Northwest Regional Conference will be held March 13-15 at the Hilton Tower Downtown, Portland, Ore. Twelve Plants Earn Top Millionaires Safety Award
AFS has announced the winners of the 2007 Millionaires Safety Award. This annual award recognizes facilities that reach million marks of consecutive man-hours worked without incurring an occupational injury or illness that results in days away from work or death. To be considered for the award, facilities must be AFS corporate members.

The 2007 winners include:

New MSDS Forms Available for Magnesium Alloy Castings
AFS has completed the update of the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for magnesium alloy castings to follow the new American National Standards Institute (ANSI) 16-part format.

The new forms will help metalcasters meet their ISO certification requirements by ensuring that all of their records are current. The 16-part ANSI format includes necessary fields, such as product and company information, hazard identification, composition/information on ingredients, first aid measures, fire and explosion data, accidental release measures, handling and storage, exposure controls, personal protection, physical and chemical properties, stability and reactivity, toxicological and ecological information, disposal considerations, and transportation and regulatory information.
