After a two-year hiatus, the AFS Executive Salary Survey is once again available to the metalcasting industry. This important report includes responses from 127 metalcasting facilities in the U.S. and Canada.
Now more than ever, metalcasters need all the resources available to assist in navigating this uncertain economic landscape. The 2009 Executive Salary Survey will help you navigate this landscape. It also will provide your company with valuable information including foundry-specific compensation for 28 executive-level positions, ranging from chairman-of-the-board to salesperson. Data is broken down by ferrous and nonferrous facilities, gross sales and region. Salaries reported include annual bonus compensation (if applicable). Total salary and percentage of increase are compared from 1998 to 2008.

Div. 10 includes 5 committees, 3 of which are open to all metalcasters and others involved in the metalcasting industry and 2 available by nomination only. The Div. 10 EH&S committees include:
- 10-A Executive Committee (by nomination only);
- 10-B Programs & Paper Committee (by nomination only);
- 10-E Air Quality Committee;
- 10-F Water Quality & Waste Disposal Committee;
- 10-Q Safety & Health Committee.

The American Foundry Society (AFS) has issued a call for papers to be presented at the new Casting Design & Purchasing sessions to be held at CastExpo’10 and the 114th Metalcasting Congress, March 19-23, 2010, Orlando, Florida, USA.
Submission is open to technical papers and presentations covering all areas related to metal casting design and purchasing, including: how to design, process and material basics, process and material advancements, computer-based modeling and simulation, rapid prototyping, casting conversions, identifying suppliers and supply chain management.
The Casting Design & Purchasing sessions are being held in conjunction with the new Cast in North America pavilion during CastExpo’10. The Cast in North America pavilion is an opportunity for metalcasters (foundries and diecasters) to exhibit their capabilities to their customers—buyers and designers—from across the globe.
Abstracts for papers at the Casting Design & Purchasing sessions are due by October 15th with complete manuscripts due by December 1. Offer and abstract form, paper number assignment, author guide and paper template are all available at the Metalcasting Congress website at http://papers.afsinc.org/.
