Conference to Discuss Metallurgical, Production Issues of Non-Leaded Copper Alloys
Monday, 25 July 2011
A Copper No-Lead Workshop will be held Sept. 21 at AFS Headquarters, Schaumburg, Ill. This event, sponsored by AFS, is intended for those copper metalcasting facilities who are considering adding no-lead options to their product mix. The workshop  will discuss production parameters and post-casting processing, and is based on the information and findings of the recent AFS Copper No-Lead Alloy Consortium,  organized to study the issue of non-lead options for the metalcasting industry.

Topics at the event will include metallurgical and production issues, such as pouring temepratures and gating techniques, as well as machining, soldering and plating.

For more information or to register for the workshop, visit www.afsinc.org/2011coppernoleadworkshop or contact AFS customer service at 800/537-4237.

AFS Represents U.S. Metalcasters at GIFA, NEWCAST
Monday, 25 July 2011
AFS cosponsored a North American Pavilion at GIFA 2011. The event was held June 28-July 2, 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany.  The North American Pavilion at GIFA was an exhibiting area where metalcasting industry suppliers exhibited to casting producers. Exhibiting within the GIFA Pavilion gave suppliers an opportunity to make a greater marketing impact at the large trade show, as well as an opportunity to begin or increase overseas trade.

In addition, AFS exhibited North American metalcasting successes at NEWCAST 2011, an event that ran concurrently with GIFA, allowing metalcasters to exhibit their casting abilities to buyers and design engineers.

“AFS is proud to have cosponsored the North American Pavilion at GIFA 2011,” said Jerry Call, AFS executive vice president. “It provided North American suppliers a great opportunity to display their products on a global stage.”
