The Inaugural Meeting
The first meeting of the Young Executives of Metalcasting (YEM), an invite-only group sponsored by the American Foundry Society, was held Oct. 5-6 at AFS Headquarters in Schaumburg, Ill.
The goal of the newly-formed group is to build a strong network of peers that can support each other as they move up the ladder of leadership in the metalcasting industry.
A networking dinner kicked off the first YEM meeting and was followed by two presentations the following day. Dan Marcus, TDC Consulting, presented “Thinking Like a P&L Statement: How Metalcasters Must Focus on Profitability.” George Pearce, Holland and Knight, followed with his presentation, “Succession Planning: Keys to Success.” Both presentations are a prime industry focus.
Thirty-two metalcasters from all over the U.S. attended the first meeting.
